You have exactly one week left to submit comments on a new, primarily copper, mine proposed for the Skeena.
If it goes ahead, Surge Copper’s Berg Project, would be the second largest copper producer in the country.
It’s planned for an area due southwest of Houston, just east of Morice Lake.
Projections would see it produce around 43 million tonnes of ore annually over its 33 year-life.
That includes 416 million pounds of copper-equivalent ore each of its first five years.
Berg also says the area’s geography puts them in an ideal situation to manage the mine’s tailings with help from natural features.
The project’s first public consultation period is underway until next Monday.
