Flags are at half-mast across the country today to honour the four service members killed in a fire at CFB Wainwright on Saturday.
Another 39 were taken to hospital, 19 of which remain in critical condition as of this morning.
Officials say the fire was part of a training exercise and had been burning for several hours before rapidly expanding at around 4 PM local time.
Major General Wade Rutland says shifting winds led to the fire moving a kilometre in under a minute.
Two of the soldiers killed are from BC: Private Aidan Goulding from North Van, and Private Hayden Lykkemark from Langley.
The other two are Private Shaun Farrell from Saskatchewan, and Sergeant Morgan Wong from Edmonton.
All were part of the Princess Patricia’s Light Infantry 3rd Battalion.
