A new weather station has been commissioned in Kitimat.
LNG Canada and its prime contractor JGC Fluor collaborated on construction of the standardized weather station which fulfills another of their community commitments.
Prior to the new station being commissioned the nearest automatic weather station was located in Smithers and Prince Rupert. There was only a volunteer-based weather station locally, and an IATA certified weather station at the Northwest Regional Airport in Terrace.
The new weather station will employ advanced equipment to accurately provide climate modelling and weather forecasts for the region.
