Police received a report today Wednesday November 4th at 9:10am that there was a single vehicle collision on Highway 39 south of Mackenzie.
When police got to the scene they found a northbound white shuttle bus in a ditch and with about 20 passengers and the driver with injuries ranging from minor to serious.
RCMP say multiple air and ground ambulances have been used to get the injured the treatment they need, and a complete shutdown of Highway #39 was required.
“This was a chaotic scene, and police will need time to sort out many of the details, we need to speak with anyone who has dash camera video of the bus, or any witnesses who saw what was happening prior to the crash.” – Sergeant Michael McLaughlin with BC Highway Patrol
No arrests have been made but the cause of the crash is still uncertain.
RCMP say that nothing has been ruled out.
RCMP are asking if you saw the bus in the minutes before the collision, or you have dash camera footage, call BC Highway Patrol Prince George at 250-649-4004. And quote file (3100) 2026-956.
Northern Health is asking Prince George residents to avoid the University Hospital of Northern B-C’s emergency department unless they have a life-threatening emergency.
R-C-M-P say some of the victims are seriously hurt, and two hospitals have declared mass-casualty alerts.
