Trigon Pacific Terminals has been ordered to stop using contractors for tasks normally done by unionized workers, as their strike continues.
More than two-thirds of the company’s workers are represented by the International Longshore and Warehouse Union and have been on strike since October 2nd.
Since then, Trigon has had its remaining non-unionized workers mostly focusing on coal related operations.
Rail and Liquid Propane Gas activities have been handled by contractors during that time.
On Tuesday, the Industrial Relations Board ordered a halt to that by end of day today.
Trigon argued it will create serious disruptions in propane exports that could damage Canada’s reputation.
It comes a week after another Board decision not to uphold Trigon’s complaint that the Union was negotiating in bad faith.
