On May 30, a traffic stop in Burns Lake ended with the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of significant quantities of drugs and cash. The Burns Lake Crime Reduction Unit (BLCRU) had been monitoring the suspect, who was known to police, and initiated the stop after observing a motor vehicle offence. During the stop, officers discovered over 30 grams of suspected crack cocaine, additional cocaine, $500 in cash, and evidence of drug trafficking. The suspects were arrested, and a follow-up search warrant executed at the suspect’s home led to the seizure of over 300 grams of crack cocaine, psilocybin, prescription pills, 15 tabs of LSD, illegal cigarettes, and more than $10,000 in cash. Police also found several items connected to drug trafficking, along with weapons. The suspect was released without process as the investigation continues.
