Gitxsan Cultural Days Returns August 15th & 16th
Gitxsan Cultural Days is happening this weekend, August 15th and 16th, and this year’s celebration is shaping up to be bigger than ever.
We’re excited to welcome more performers, cultural groups, vendors, and participants than in previous years. The event will feature performances from Gitlax̱dax Sayt-K’il̓im G̱oothl, Nisg̱a’a Northern Tribez Drum and Dance Group from Kamloops, Khast’an Drum Group from Prince George, Gitselasu Dancers – Tsimshian, Gitlaxdax Add Youth Association, All Clans Dancers, and ‘Ksan Performing Arts.
Along with the performances and cultural celebrations, organizers are also looking for additional vendors, information booths, and participants for the 3rd Annual Fry Bread Competition.
Dancing and drumming groups interested in taking part are encouraged to contact Pansy at p.wright-simms@gitanmaax.com.
There are also opportunities to get involved through volunteering, donations, the fry bread competition, and the parade. Anyone interested in participating in these activities can contact Jenn at j.robinson@gitanmaax.com. The parade will feature cash prizes of $1,000 for first place, $750 for second place, and $500 for third place.
Vendors and organizations interested in setting up a vendor or information booth can contact McKaylee at m.ryan@gitanmaax.com. Booth spaces are $20 per day or $30 for the full weekend, and spaces are booking up quickly.
With a full lineup of performers, cultural groups, activities, and opportunities to get involved, Gitxsan Cultural Days is set to be a memorable weekend celebrating culture, community, and connection.
We hope to see you all there!
