After a two year COVID-19 hiatus, Terrace’s police and firefighter crews are hitting the ice again to fundraise for the Jumpstart foundation.
Since 2009, the city’s police department has organized their Guns’n’Hoses tournament, which sees a hockey face off with the fire department to fundraise for children’s sports organizations.
First held after Terrace was named “Hockeyville” 13 years ago, the funds originally went to KidSport Canada. After that, the detachment started giving the proceeds to Canadian Tire’s Jumpstart Program, which helps kids get involved with local sport teams.
There will also be a puck toss this year. Attendees can buy a puck during the game for the chance to win a prize being presented by Save-On Foods.
So far the Hoses have won 6 out of the 12 games, meaning the RCMP have the chance to even out the tally.
The game takes place this weekend on Nov. 25 at the Terrace Sportsplex. Doors open at 6 p.m.; tickets are available at the doors.
