Prince George RCMP partnered with Amazon to launch a bait package program.
Amazon provided packaging, real products and surveillance technology. This led to the identifying and arresting of people responsible for similar thefts.
To date bait packages have been deployed more than 50 times at various locations in the detachment area, with a total of three activations. One of these investigations has led to the arrest of a 37 year old male. The investigation has been submitted to the BC Prosecution Service for consideration of charges.
The Prince George RCMP said that they hope this initiative will lead to many more arrests of people looking to ruin the holidays for families in their community.
