Another dead grey whale has been found off BC’s coast, bringing the province’s 2019 total to 6.
While this most recent whale was found floating in Boundary Bay, three of the six have been discovered in waters near Haida Gwaii.
According to the DFO, they haven’t witnessed such a steep rate of death for the ocean mammals since 2000.
Currently, the Department believes lack of nutrition to be the cause of the increased toll, but they are working with scientists in the US and Mexico to come to a more thorough conclusion.
