RCMP say 26 year-old Prince George man is facing weapons charges after an incident Tuesday night.
Prince George Mounties tried to pull over a vehicle just before 8 p.m., but the driver sped away and ran a red light in the process.
A short time later, a member of the public called RCMP to report a man taking bikes and other items out of of pickup and stashing them in a wooded area of a local park.
Police arrested a man on a bike a short distance away and found he was in possession of a loaded firearm.
Johnny James Boys is charged with five offences, including carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a prohibited weapon without a licence.
RCMP say Boys has a history of police involvement in Terrace, Dease Lake, Alberta, and Prince George.
Police are still investigating.
